MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Beloved Bath, a maple wood candle and bath products store founded by two mothers of autistic sons, held a ribbon cutting on April 2 – World Autism Awareness Day – for their first physical space.

Mayor Dean Dafis and Deputy Mayor Victor De Luca, and were joined by some staff members with autism.
Prior to this month, most products were made in a private basement.
“This new space allows us to employ more people with autism and allows schools to come to our new space and students to learn job skills,” Miller said.
Moms met on the playground
The couple met in 2000 when their children were toddlers. They both found that their autistic sons calmed down after taking salt or lavender baths. Eventually, they started a business together.
“Beloved Bath is a bath products and candle company whose mission is to provide meaningful employment for people with autism,” the couple noted in a statement. “Products are made on-site at their Maplewood location.”
Miller explained, “People with autism are often underserved and underemployed. Their skills lend themselves perfectly to the jobs we have at Beloved Bath, from making soaps and candles to packing items. They are very proud of their work and they help us create our best –
product sales line.”
Pam Kattouf added, “People with autism are an untapped pool of talent and contribute to our business in so many ways. We think it’s so important to harness their potential!”
Their new foundation helps adults with autism
To better serve people with autism, Pam and Pat recently launched the Beloved Bath Charitable Foundation, which serves to improve the lives of adults with autism and related disabilities.
Donations support job training and services for people with autism and other developmental disabilities, grants and mentorship for businesses focused on autistic employment, and employment and career-related programs. adult life for people with disabilities.
