The chiefs fall on the road; Pirates edge out Covington – College and youth baseball scores

Local baseball teams took to the field on Thursday.

In college action, Beautiful fountain lost on the road to Kenton Ridge 11-1.

Keyon Collier was on the mound for leader, allowing eight hits and 11 runs in two and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Kevin Gomez is out of the bullpen.

Offensively, Gomez, Alex Caudill and Kaden Reames each had one hit to lead the Chiefs.

Bellefontaine is now 9-12, 7-8 at Radio-Canada.

the Riverside Pirates University team defeated Covington 4-3.

The game was tied at 3 in the bottom of the 6th when Gavin Robinson singled it 0-2 scoring 1 run.

Landon Purtee started the game for Riverside in four and a third innings, allowing three runs on three hits, striking out four and walking zero.

Zander Crouch took the Pirates victory on the mound, going two and two-thirds innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out one and walking zero.

Riverside had nine hits in the game. Robinson, Warren Shockey and Landon Stewart each had two hits to lead the Pirates.

Jensen Wagoner was on the mound for Covington, giving up four runs on nine hits in five and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Tanner Palsgrove pitched a third inning out of the bullpen.

With the win, Riverside moved to 10-8 overall and finished 8-6, making it a co-runner-up in the Three Rivers conference.

Pony League:

West Liberty-Salem #2, LeVan Excavationbeat Bellefontaine #1 10-0 in 5 innings at Dodge Park.

For WL-S, Reese Oder pitched a full game with 1 hit, striking out 11 and walking just 1.

Nick Shifflet powered the offense going 2-2 with a double and 3 RBIs.

Cooper Crouch was 1-1 with a double and 1 RBI.

WL-S #2 returns to action Saturday morning in Kenton.

Agricultural League:

Huntsville Patriots Attic defeated Belle Center 16-0.

Ross Tidwell, Mason Berg and Steven Castle combined to kick off the shutout.

Offensively, Colt Volbrecht was 3-3 with 6 RBIs, Bennett Shaner was 3-3 with 4 RBIs and Ty Blackburn added a triple and 3 RBIs.

Home run by Keegan ReisingerWest Liberty, Hickory Medical Direct Primary Caredefeated #2 Indian Lake 13-0.

Callen Oder took the win on the mound for the Tigers, striking out 7 over the first 3 innings. Michael Beard hit 4 on the relief mound.

On the offensive side, Oder added a brace and 2 runs scored at home plate.

Caizen Anders had a home run, a triple and 3 runs scored. Keegan Reisinger and Beard also finished 2-2 at the plate. Reisinger hit a 2-run home run (pictured) to go with a double, 3 RBIs and 2 runs. Beard scored twice. Brennan May and Harrison Sutherin each added a pair of points in the win.

From Tuesday evening in the action of the agricultural league, West Liberty-Salem #3, Peoples Savings and Loandefeated #1 Huntsville 11-6.

Colt Anderson led the offense with a home run.

On the mound, Liam Baldwin, Cal Scott, Josh Collins and Grayson Leichty combined to secure the win.

Peoples Savings and Loan goes 2-0 this season.

Also in action from the agricultural league from Tuesday, West Liberty-Salem #1, Keith’s Kuts & Kurlsdefeated Zanesfield Del-Mar Tree Services 21-5.

For WL-S, Brody Deam, Kipton Crowder, Foster King, Mac Heminger and Calen Fairchild had several hits.

Mills Lapp recovered the stoppage on the mound by hitting the side in the bottom of the 5th inning.
